Good Food, Good Friends, and Bonus Points

This past week have been craaaaaa-zy! It's like a week full-o-fun!

Mike and I went to a Yappy Hour at a furniture showroom sponsored by a friend of ours' company.... mostly because it benefited the SPCA. They raised over $5000 that night! It was fun to see all of the interior design girls (including most of the men there in that one....) try to out-dress each other. I enjoyed my comfortable belly-friendly clothing and shoes while people-watching! I entered Arby in the cute pet contest, but he was way too cute for the rest of the competition. Another dog won, but it worked... he was a rescue from the SPCA and really was a sweet looking guy! As long as money was raised, I'm happy with the outcome. Afterwards we went to Steel for dinner, compliments of our furniture vendor friend. I'm really glad she picked up the check because....WOW. it was really really good food (i recommend it if you like sushi for sure) and you get what you pay for i guess! dinner was a lot of fun, and it was nice to go somewhere trendy and cool even though i don't feel trendy and cool much anymore. :)

My friend Telissa came into town on Wednesday afternoon, and we had such a good time! We went to Sprinkles and got cupcakes... what's better than stuffing your face with a yummy cupcake on a nice day? We decided to go to Fuse for dinner, since poor Telissa can't get that type of thing in Laredo (i.e. trendy and cool). It was really good too! Tex-Asian food is pretty good... brisket potstickers...mmm..... and once again, you get what you pay for. The interior is really funky and unique, i was tempted to get lost finding the restroom in order to see it all, but i didn't... i figure i'll wait until i can enjoy some of their delicious libations and visit the rooftop bar. :) It was really nice to see her, it's been forever!!! She needs to come up more often. :)

So tonight is the big V-day.... normally just like any other day for us, and the past couple of years we went to our local restaurant for ribs and beer... no wait, no hurry, no reason to dress up. it was nice and low-key, perfectly fine with me! But this year, Mike stepped it up a notch. He sent me flowers with a bear! (i love bears... a lot) So sweet of him to think of me....he gets big bonus points. :) Big props to Mike for his ability to consistently suprise me!

And tonight we're having dinner with some friends at Maguire's, so another great meal is on its way! It's like heaven for a foodie, this life... hahaha

I think most of this is just enjoying it while we can... we hardly ever have a week that's this chock-full of entertainment... mostly it's at home working on the house, or it's at home recovering from work... it's been a nice little reminder of how much fun life is, and how wonderful it is to have good friends! how boring would it be without them?!
